Ground Blinds & Shooting Chairs
Get close to a mature buck, a wary turkey, or a black bear at a bait site without giving up your cover. Our ground blinds put you at ground level with the game and break up the human outline when a tree stand is not the play. Most use a pop-up design built from durable polyester in natural material patterns over a spring-steel frame that sets up on natural ground in under a minute. Choose five-hub blinds for room to draw, spring-steel pop-ups for fast deployment on a game trail, or lighter models for run-and-gun deer hunting.
At Adventures Archery, we carry hub blinds, spring-steel pop-ups, and a full lineup of hunter chairs from Rhino, Barronett, Ameristep, Primos, and WFS. As a Florida archery and bowhunting shop, our shelves stock standalone units, ready-to-go packages with stake kits and a carrying bag, and chair-and-stool combos.
Blind Features and Construction
Hub-Style Blinds
Hub blinds use a five-hub or six-hub spring-loaded frame that pops open into a square footprint, typically 58 by 58 inches and 66 to 80 inches tall (roughly six feet). The shell is heavy denier polyester with a blackout interior, silent sliding window panels backed by shoot-through mesh, and skirts that seal the bottom edge. Hub blinds give a bow hunter the most room to draw on a mature buck at full extension, which is why the Rhino R150 and Barronett Big Mike are popular for serious turkey hunting and deer setups.
Spring-Steel Pop-Ups
Spring-steel blinds use a continuous wire frame with a pop-up design that snaps open in seconds. Models like the Rhino Spring Steel trade some interior room for ultra-fast deployment, which suits hunters who relocate often along a game trail. They are easy to brush in with natural cover and a strong fit for a first time blind setup or a first time bow hunting trip.
Ready-to-Hunt Packages
Most blinds ship complete with the shell, frame, stakes, tie-down rope, and a carrying bag, so you can set up at a food source the same day. Adding a Barronett Stake Kit and a hunter stool gives you a complete setup. Unlike permanent box blinds, a portable hub blind moves with the deer.
Hub-Style vs. Spring-Steel Blinds
Hub blinds win on interior room. The larger footprint and taller shooting height give a bow hunter space to draw and pivot on a moving target at 20 to 40 yards. They handle wind and weather better, making them the choice for all-day sits, late season cold, and longer setups on private land or near a downed tree.
Spring-steel pop-ups win on speed. They open in seconds, pack down smaller, and weigh less, which is what a hunter needs for quick setups on public land, a state wildlife area, or a fresh scent trail. Public land hunters who rotate spots between a state wildlife area and private ground benefit most. The interior is tighter, but for crossbow or gun hunt setups that do not need full bow-draw clearance, the tradeoff works.
Top Blind Brands We Carry
Rhino
Rhino Blinds is the deepest brand in our lineup, with five-hub designs, spring-steel pop-ups, and a full chair collection. The Rhino 300 and Rhino R180 See-Through are favorites for bowhunters who want to watch a black bear or deer approach through one-way mesh.
Barronett
Barronett builds oversized hub blinds that blend into cover. The Barronett Pentagon uses a five-sided footprint for shoulder room at full draw on a whitetail deer, a strutting turkey, or a black bear at a bear bait.
Ameristep, Primos, and Pursuit Gear
Ameristep covers the budget end with the Doghouse, Primos brings the proven Double Bull Stakeout for stand-up bow shots on turkey or deer, and Pursuit Gear rounds out the lineup with the Ringer Hub.
How to Choose the Right Blind
Bowhunters chasing whitetail deer or turkey need a hub blind tall enough to draw inside, ideally 66 inches (about five and a half feet) or more. Crossbow and gun hunt setups can run a smaller spring-steel blind. Match the camo to your terrain: Mossy Oak Bottomland blends with cypress and palmetto in the Florida woods, while Realtree Edge fits hardwood. For turkey near a strut zone, a low-profile Double Bull works; for mule deer or an ideal hunting food source pattern, a bigger blind pays off on private land.
If you already own stakes and a chair, a standalone blind makes sense; if you are setting up a new spot, pairing a blind with a Rhino Director Chair or WFS Deluxe Swivel Chair gets you outfitted in one order.
Ground Blind FAQs
Yes. Most hub blinds are built for bow shooting, with interior heights of 66 to 80 inches that give you room to draw on a deer or turkey at close range. Look for silent sliding window panels and a blackout interior, and watch wind direction so your scent does not blow toward the trail.
A dedicated blind chair is sized to fit inside, sits low enough to keep your head below the window line, and blends into the surroundings. A standard camp chair sits too high and creaks, which spooks a mature buck and makes drawing a bow awkward at close yards.
A stake kit, tie-down rope, and brush loops or a downed tree branch to break the silhouette. A trail camera at the bait site or food source helps time the sit, and a second trail camera on a nearby travel route patterns scent activity. Setting your blind at a bear bait or food source a few weeks ahead lets animals adjust.
A hub blind takes one to two minutes to pop up and stake down. Brushing in takes longer and matters more. Tuck natural cover like palmetto fronds, pine boughs, or branches from a downed tree into the brush loops on the exterior, and break up the hard rectangle shape from the top corners down. Set the blind up two to four weeks before you plan to hunt so deer, turkey, or bear in the area treat it as part of the landscape by opening day.
Yes, but with limits. Hub blinds built from 150D or 300D polyester with sealed seams shed rain and handle wind in the 15 to 20 mph range when staked properly. Steady sun fades the outer fabric over multiple seasons, so storing the blind in its carrying bag between hunts extends the life. For permanent locations on private land, a blind cover or moving the blind out of direct sun in the off-season makes a real difference.
