Bear Warrior Youth Bow Set (24.5") - RH - Camo

First Shot & Youth Bows

First Shot and Youth Bows are scaled-down bow and arrow sets built for a kid, not a shrunk-down version of an adult rig. Draw weight starts light, draw length adjusts as a young archer grows, and the whole archery set is sized so a first bow actually feels good in a kid's hands instead of fighting them. This is the gear that turns "can we try archery" into an actual outdoor activity the whole family can do together, allowing kids to gain archery experience either at home or at an archery range.

Most youth rigs in this collection come packaged as a full bow set with arrows and the accessories needed to start shooting the same day the box arrives, so there's no guessing about what else to buy. These aren't toy bows or plastic bow kits from the toy aisle. They're real beginner archery equipment, just built at kid scale, which is why so many indoor ranges and school archery programs use a similar setup for their youngest archers.

Youth Bow Features and Construction

Adjustable Draw Weight and Draw Length

Every youth bow in this collection is built to adjust in both draw weight and length as a kid grows. Draw length adjusts independently, so the bow fits the kid's actual arm span and posture instead of forcing an awkward reach or a cramped shot. That flexibility is the reason these bows turn into something a kid actually keeps using at all skill levels.

Safe, Beginner-Friendly Arrows

Youth bow sets pair with arrows built for beginner hands, including suction cup arrows, which are common for indoor range use and backyard shooting. These arrows with lighter fiberglass or aluminum shafts are more kid-friendly than adult arrows, matching the lower draw weight of a youth bow and keeping the whole set balanced for a kid's strength and coordination.

Simple, Durable Construction

Youth bows are built to survive drops, garage storage, and consistent use. The bowstring, limbs, and riser are built simpler than an adult compound bow, with fewer moving parts to adjust or break, meaning a parent can hand a boy or girl a bow and let them shoot without babysitting a bow press or a complicated cam system. The bow holds up through the inevitable drop on the driveway or the trip in the back of the car.

Bear Goblin Youth Bow Set

Youth Bows vs. Toy Bows vs. Adult Compound Bows

A toy bow, a stick and string, or a plastic bow from a big box store looks similar to a real youth bow at a glance, but the shooting experience is nowhere close. Toy bows and Nerf dart-style sets are built for pretend play and can still be a lot of fun, but they are not real hand-eye coordination and eye coordination practice, and they can't be adjusted as a kid grows. Real youth bows like First Shot & Youth Bows use actual limbs and a real bowstring, so the shot feels and behaves like archery, not a game.

On the other end, a full-size adult compound bow is too much for a young archer. The draw weight is too high, the draw length doesn't adjust down far enough, and the price tag is a lot to risk on a kid who's still deciding if archery is for them. Youth bows sit in the middle, real enough to teach proper form and safety, and are sized right so a kid can actually pull it back and hit a target with some consistency.

Brands of Youth Bows We Carry

Genesis

Genesis is the name behind most youth archery programs in schools and 4-H clubs, and for good reason. The Genesis mini and standard Genesis bows use a single-cam design with no let-off, which means a kid can't over-draw the bow, an important safety feature for a first bow. Draw weight and draw length both adjust on the same bow, so one Genesis can carry a young archer from their very first shot through several years of growth without buying a new bow every season.

Bear Archery Youth Line & Easton

Bear's youth compound bows step up in draw weight and features for kids who've outgrown a true beginner rig but aren't ready for an adult bow. These youth rigs still adjust across a wide draw weight and draw length range, but they add more accessories and a more grown-up look, which matters to a kid who wants their gear to feel like the real thing their parents shoot.

Easton's beginner recurve kit is a 52-inch ambidextrous bow with a 10- to 20-pound draw weight. The set includes a bow, quiver, three arrows, sight, finger protector, and an armguard, so a young archer can start shooting right away.

Hoyt & PSE

Hoyt's Fireshot is a USA-built youth compound for kids who are serious about target shooting or bowhunting. Its 18- to 28-inch draw length and draw weights up to 51 pounds let it grow with the archer for years.

PSE's Youth Maxim is an affordable, right-handed compound set for young archers with a 22-inch draw length and 22-pound draw weight. The package includes a sight pin, rest, quiver, arrows, finger savers, and an armguard.

Bear Spark Youth Bow Set

How to Choose the Right Youth Bow

Start with the kid's size and strength, not their age. Draw length should roughly match arm span, and a bow shop can measure this in a couple of minutes. Draw weight should feel light enough that a kid can hold the bow at full draw for a few seconds without shaking, since a bow that's too heavy teaches bad habits and takes the fun out of it fast.

Think about how the bow will be used, too. A kid shooting mostly at an indoor range or backyard target does fine with a basic Genesis-style set, while a kid interested in outdoor games, 3D courses, or eventually bow hunting benefits from a youth rig with more room to grow in draw weight. Budget matters, but the list price on most youth bow sets is modest compared to an adult compound bow, and a proper fitting at one of our shops beats guessing on gear a kid might outgrow in a year.

Bowfishing Arrow Rest FAQs

Most kids can start around age 6 to 8 with a light draw weight Genesis-style bow, though it really comes down to size and interest more than age. A shop fitting is the best way to confirm a kid is ready and to pick the right starting draw weight.

An adjustable youth bow like the Genesis Mini can last several years since draw weight and draw length both adjust on the same bow. Most kids don't need a new bow until they're ready for an adult-sized compound bow in their teens.

Most sets include the bow, a handful of arrows, an arm guard, and other accessories such as an arrow quiver, giving a family everything needed for that first shot without buying pieces separately.

Yes, when paired with the right arrows and basic range rules. Suction cup arrows and lighter shafts reduce the risk of injury, and the low draw weight of a youth bow keeps things safe for a group of kids taking turns at the target.

Definitely. These are real bows with adjustable draw weight and draw length, not toys, so a kid is learning proper form, safety, and hand-eye coordination from the very first shot, the same fundamentals they'd use on an adult bow later on as they develop their archery skills.
