Features of Bow Sights and Scopes
Fixed Pin Sights and Pin Brightness
A fixed pin sight holds several horizontal pins, and each pin is set to its own yardage. Most hunters set the top pin at 20 yards, a 30-yard pin below it, and a 40-yard pin under that. At full draw, the shooter picks the matching pin and releases without touching the sight. Fiber optic pins glow in low light, and a .019" pin is easier to see at dawn than a .010" pin.
Single Pin, Slider, and Hybrid Sights
A single-pin sight, also called a single-pin slider, uses one pin on a housing that moves along the sight bar. The shooter turns a yardage wheel to the exact distance, and each tick mark on the sight tape lines up with a yardage. A hybrid sight pairs that movable housing with two or more fixed pins, so hunters can get quick shots at common ranges and still dial in for longer, less predictable ones.
