Lightweight Panel Saddle Kits
Lightweight panel kits use a single-panel design in breathable, low-bulk fabric that packs down small and weighs under two pounds. Standard kits include the saddle, a 7-foot tree tether, a lineman belt in 11mm rope, two locking carabiners, and a rigged bridge strap. The smaller pack volume and lighter weight make this build the right fit for mobile setups, where pack size and on-foot mobility matter more than long-sit comfort.
Two-Panel Workhorse Saddle Kits
Two-panel kits use a wider seat panel and a separate back panel that distribute weight across the legs and lower back. The added fabric increases total kit weight by roughly half a pound and trades pack size for support on longer sits. Standard kits include the saddle, tree tether, lineman belt, and locking carabiners, and the heavier-duty construction is built for repeated all-day use.

How to Choose the Right Saddle Hunting Kit
Match the kit to the hunt. Lightweight panel kits like the Phantom or Nimbus fit mobile setups, public-land hunts with multiple stand locations, and any scenario where pack weight matters. Two-panel workhorse kits fit fixed locations, all-day sits, and the rut. Climbing method also factors in: a one stick method calls for a different platform and stick setup than a multi-stick climb, and the kit should be matched to that workflow.
Entry-level kits run $250 to $300 and cover the basics. Mid-tier kits land in the $400 to $500 range with upgraded ropes and locking carabiners. Premium kits run $550 and up but ship as a fully rigged saddle system with every component sized and rated together. A saddle hunting kit is a complete setup built around a tree saddle, designed for bowhunters who want to move fast, hunt high, and shoot 360 degrees around the tree. It suits mobile hunters on public land and anyone tired of hauling a heavy lock-on stand. A safety harness and lineman's rope must be in use at all times above the ground.
No. A lock-on stand harness is built to catch a fall, not support hours of seated use. A saddle kit includes a rated tether and bridge rope for continuous suspension, plus a lineman belt for safe climbing. The components are not interchangeable.
A climbing stick set (most hunters run three or four climbing sticks or a one stick method), a platform, and a bow hanger. Hunting gear like a knee pad, tether ring, and saddle-specific pack round out the kit, and a lifeline rope adds safety from ground to stand height for a better hunting experience.
Saddle sizing is based on waist measurement and body weight, not shirt size. Most brands offer Regular and XL versions of the same kit, with the size break typically falling around a 36-inch waist or 200 pounds.
